Spurs Board Do Have A Genuine Decision To Make

1169900468_0.jpgAs Harry Hotspur rightly points out, Spurs are currently being forced to lie in the bed made by incredible pre-season hype. The problem is that the hype, bed, sheets and frame were all built by the press themselves, and now they are the ones smothering us with the pillow.

It’s not a new situation for any Premier League club, not the least a high profile, underachieving one like Tottenham. But it is frustrating because of the injuries we’ve had, and the fixture schedule. If we had claimed just 6 points leading up to Manchester United and Arsenal, any point we got from them would’ve been happily taken and a double loss tempered by any sign of a good performance.

But now? Any point dropped for the next month or so will lead to a rash of “Jol Sacked Within 6 Minutes!” headlines. Be prepared to ride the very, very negative storm.

Sadly, I do think there is fire to this smoke. The board would be stupid to fire BMJ after giving him so much money to spend and with only a few games gone but I do believe if they can upgrade (to Sevilla’s Juande Ramos, of whom I am a huge fan) then they may well take a chance.

I’m torn, because on the one hand (as I just said) it makes little sense to get rid of Jol. On the other I do agree with any sentiment from the board that Jol can cement us as a Top Six club but not take us into the Big Four, which is commendably where our ambition and spending wants us to be.

It’s a tough one, I just hope that those who are being paid a hefty sum to make the right decision can do so.

I thought you all could take a look at this amazing latter that was put on another fans site who is meant to be on board, make up your on minds if you thing it’s true?.

Andrew, as I know you are always in the chatroom, can I provide you with the current position please.

Re Ramos, Klinsmann etc - We are not negotiating with any managers about the replacement of Martin Jol at this time. We are an ambitious club and it is a realistic ambition that we should look to CL qualification, so anything that looks like we may not make it is bound to lead to speculation and we fully expect that. No manager’s future is decided on one or two games and it is insulting to suggest that this board would do that.

Re Martin and Damien - they have a good working relationship - the football management board works - no player comes into this club that Martin doesnt agree to - it would be ludicrous to suggest that money would be spent on players Martin did not favour and whom he would not then play, Damien has brought talent to the club with Martin’s approval - and we would not have players like Berbatov and Bale without him to mention but two (there are obviously many more).

Re left position - always difficult as evidenced by the fact that the majority of prem teams (Liverpool a notable exception) play a right footer on the left. We have Lennon, Malbranque (who played a blinder on the left yesterday) Bale and Keane. So we have many options and yet we will still look as depth is a key factor of the squad.

Please let me know if any rumours running amok that I have not answered here - will be happy to! best regards,

I will be posting it elsewhere, but wanted to put it on SC first. This comes from someone who is on the Spurs’ board.

Please do not be petty and argue over this as if it were some titbit of transfer ITK information. It isn’t. You can take it to the bank.

The club is not about to sack Martin Jol. Please calm down.

Jol In, out, in, out shake it all about! Here we go again! Remember, we are, and always have been, one of the most envied clubs, ever! A rich tradition, great nights, finals, football to dream about etc, etc… Though it is hard to take disappointment. At 10.00am on the morning of the 11th August, nobody could have been looking forward to the start of the season then me. By 10.00pm on the 14th August, I couldn’t wait for it to end! 4.45 18th August, after an afternoon of goals and thrills, plus a clap, clap, clap, clap, clap YIDS! I was enthralled all over again! For me Lee made all the difference, giving Steed the chance to do his stuff, plus Routledge, and Hudd, the new King?!, giving us all back our beloved Spurs! I will admit, the thought of having the blond bomber (Klin) on the bench gives me a such a thrill, 50 years ago I’d been locked up for gay tendencies, today I’d be accused of being a bloody gooner! I do think Jolly’s day is up, no smoke without fire, etc. But, like it or lump it, whoever takes us back to the Glory, Glory days will be adored, and past mediocrities forgotten. Just as last weeks awful displays were, temporarily, come Saturday afternoon. This season I’ve been stuffed for £53 for my bronze, paid over £30 a ticket, and when the 4th went in, did I care? Not a jot, just like all of us, it’s in the blood. And I need success, I need to see us crowing it over those gooners, blue gays, utd, scousers and all the rest. And that’s the point, when we fail, it gives that ars Wenger more to grab for himself. I haven’t forgotten A.W.’s tantrums, when it looked like we would finish 4th. I, myself would have screamed at the FA with a genuine sick note, insisted on playing a day or two later. And with the whammers looking to the FA final, they would have given less. Those two cup games, 2 goals up and losing? not good enough, injuries or not. To win , you have to take it. Beat down your rivals door. Give it all you’ve got. And football is a dirty business. Rumors to destabilize the others is all a part off the game. Remember Keegan loosing it at Newcastle? Putting it about that your star player is leaving, the oldest trick in the book! Be confident fellow YIDS, stay together, Danny Levy wants it and we’re going to get it! The new stadium is on it’s way, Glories to return, and our rivals can go fuck themselves if they don’t like it! COYS!

@ Pete

Do you know what source that person is drawing from? It does sound very re-assuring, but that may just be because it’s well written. I think this there’s definite fire to the smoke, but what action Spurs ultimately decide to take is still up in the air.

The person is slowly getting used to cars, mostly to the news, which are tied with the past. Either it is its manufacturer or it is its design but they have something in common. Nowdays, as concerns “alived” cars, they are mostly sport cars. The “Fathers” of today?s followers was somehow special for their age, they had something inside themselves what is alived to this times. Why had it been constructing cars which have their rootes in 50-ties, 60 –ties and 70 – ties. People know how to honour this jewel which survives even 50 years and therefore these cars are so exceptional. What do the years 1968-1973 and 2006 have in common? The only one thing, the collocation Opel GT!
