Only Arsenal Can Match Tottenham’s Youngsters?

Not sure what kind of mission the Tottenham PR officer has Martin Jol on, but the past couple days have been filled with bullish quotes from the usually laid-back boss. He’s already gone on about how no other manager could have achieved any more than he has in the past few years and now he’s doing a bit of boasting about our youth policy,

“I feel we have more talented players at Tottenham than any other club. Maybe only Arsenal have the same but their approach is different to mine.

“If you were fickle you would say it is the same for both clubs, but it isn’t. It’s totally different.

“Gael Clichy has been playing at Arsenal for years, getting used to his role behind Ashley Cole before he moved on. Then he comes into the team after a couple of years of preparation.

“Cesc Fabregas was there for three or four years. They were all on the bench and came on when things were going well.

“If your team is in a position where you are playing well and then you bring on, for example, Kevin-Prince Boateng or Adel Taarabt, it’s an easy decision to make.

Well said, BMJ we have made a big effort to bring in young talent and they have made up the spine of the team. We see Arsenal’s youngsters come flying into the first team but they’ve usually spent an entire year or more in the reserves learning the Arsenal way, we just don’t know enough about them until they break through and assume they’ve only signed the day before.

The difference is that we don’t have such an amazing first team that we can afford to make these players wait, we can see holes in the side and of course wonder if these youngsters can be the answer just as Cesc stepped into Vieira’s shoes. When results are good, of course we are more patient with the first team but that’s not fickle that is just logic. If the starters are playing like bollocks then its up to them to change that if they want us to stop calling for change.

What a load of rubbish!! Wenger dismantled a team that went unbeaten and through in a group of youngsters - it very nearly cost them a CL place but he had the courage to do it. Who else would have sold Veira and played a 16year Spanish kid. Our young players are going backwards under Jol while the scums youngsters keep gettin better. Less of the bulls.hit please JOL!
