Yes Martin, We Know You Love Us Really

There seems to be this shared feeling sweeping around the internet at the moment, pervading the minds of spurs fans young and old. That Martin Jol, great manager and all-around-nice-guy, was “shafted” in the way he was treated by the board. That somehow, he was “owed” more.

Let this be the first and possibly last time I will ever defend Levy …

Manchester United 1-0 Tottenham: Performance, Not The Result.

With expectations thoroughly tempered for this match, it was nice to see Tottenham come out firing. Really firing. So much so that I worried that we peaked about 20 minutes into the match and would be battered the rest of ...

Berbatov’s Manchester United Move Back On?

73199725.jpgDimitar Berbatov's agent is again stoking the flames of a move to Manchester United for Tottenham's star player. And thus, the Spurs bad-press-machine comes full circle. After thinking we'd put an end to all this crap ...

Martin Jol vs Dimitar Berbatov: Bust Up Rumours Continued

Rumours of a rift developing at Tottenhmam between Martin Jol and Dimitar Berbatov seem to be the en vogue in the wake of the "Jol Stays" announcement. The story goes that, after the Everton match, apparently Berbs and Paul Robinson went ...

Mido Blames Spurs “Internal Politics”

_41310222_mido_argues300.jpgI've always been a fan of Mido's, we knew what we were getting when we resigned him (someone who did well and stayed fit when playing, but got fat and lazy when not) so ...

Very Confusing Berbatov Transfer Scandal

berbatov_deca.jpgI've tried, but I can't quite figure out if this is anything for Spurs to worry about. But some Bulgarian news site, clearly posting poorly translated English articles, is reporting that some kind ...

Spurs vs Everton Lineup: Keane On The Right? Oh Dear…

87665dude-wtf-posters.jpgThere's been a big thread over on Glory Glory the past day or so where one poster claims to have inside info on today's starting lineup against Everton, with the lazy bastards at the Mirror since publishing the same news (although they probably just nicked it from the message board). The big news? Darren Bent and Dimitar Berbatov up front, no surprise, and Robbie Keane on the right wing... i'm sorry, what? Robbie Keane on the right wing is baffling because we've decided to play an out of position striker there instead of a midfielder and also chosen to put Malbranque out of position again on the left. Keane has played on the left of midfield fairly often in Jol's tactical shifts during a match, so by putting him on the right not only is he a striker in midfield, he is also on the wrong side.

Lee, Lennon and Berbatov Are Tottenham’s Most Important

players_104720.jpgWhile great teams like AC Milan and, sadly, Arsenal have had great success recently without the use of true wingers. You can't simply say "Well then surely it can work at Spurs!". Arsenal and Milan were supremely well coached into their narrow, short passing game, and had some outstandingly talented players to make it tick. Kaka, Pirlo, Henry, Pires, Bergkamp and even Vieira and Seedorf are all fantastic football brains and passers of the ball. This is what you need if you are going to play narrow and deliberate, because you will be unlocking teams with the right pass rather than trying to run past them. More limited teams can succeed with wingplay, because you don't need to be a good footballer to run as fast as you can down the wing and then cross. You also do not need to be as well trained, or as good in your movement because again - you're basically passing and then running your arse off. It's simple and its easy and its why most teams in England play that way.
